Pet Food Recalls. What Should You Do?
With the recent pet food recalls, it isn't stopping. More pet food are added to the recall list. The Food and Drug Administration says Natural Balance Pet Foods is recalling two kinds of pet food.
The announcement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was the first indication that a U.S. company had used melamine as an animal feed ingredient. Previously, the problem of melamine in animal feed was thought to be contained to China, where manufacturers had added it to wheat gluten.
Many pet owners are feeding their pets home cooked food. This gives your dog variety and you can control the nutritional value. You area also able to control the quality of the food and calorie intake.
Home cooked food for your pet is time-consuming and also requires a certain level of knowledge. Be careful when first starting your pet on a home cooked diet. Don't over feed your pet, don't mix raw and cooked meat in the food, and make sure your pet is getting the recommended daily balance of vitamins and supplements. For some pet owners, it can be a daunting task to embark on a home cooked diet for their pet.
